Wien Energie is Austria’s largest regional energy provider and part of the Wiener Stadtwerke Group. We reliably supply approximately two million customers and thousands of commercial and industrial facilities, with electricity, heat, cooling, electric mobility, and telecommunications. Secure energy supply and climate protection are our top priorities. Our electricity and heat production derives from renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydro power, as well as biomass, waste-to-energy, and combined heat and power (CHP).
Green hydrogen is a key component of making an active contribution to the path to climate neutrality by 2040. Our teams have already achieved important milestones in this area: Since 2024, we have been producing up to 1,300 kilograms of green hydrogen daily in Simmering, Vienna using electricity from renewable sources only. At the same time, we are creating new opportunities for businesses and the mobility of tomorrow: With flexible supply models and our hydrogen refueling stations, we are enabling the use of 100% green hydrogen — and are thus actively shaping the energy and mobility transition.
